There Is and "I" in Team, and It's ME

There are three main reasons that I want to get back in shape post-baby. Two of them are probably the most common for anyone wanting to be in shape:
1. to be healthy and fit
2. to achieve maximum hotness
Okay, so you might word that second one a little differently. The reality is that most people love the way they look better when they are in their best shape. Being healthy is a fabulous goal, but fitting into my old jeans and being able to feel somewhat decent in a bathing suit are important to me too.
This month I'm getting back to my focus on pre-baby shape now that most of my traveling and crazy times have ended. This means hitting the gym five to six times a week, eating well, replacing any sugary drinks with water and low-cal alternatives like Crystal Light Pure Fitness, and--my favorite--DERBY. My third goal (which is definitely not a mainstream one) is to kill it next season skating with Houston Roller Derby. Right now I'm heavier than I normally am, and this slows me down. Since I typically skate the position of the jammer who scores points for my team, being slower means that I am a weaker jammer. Being a weaker jammer means that I'm not helping out my team the way I need to be, and the last thing I want is to be slowing down my whole team because I'm not in the shape I need to be. For sure I want to be healthy and get back in my pre-pregnancy pants, but what really motivates me is knowing I have a team of people I don't want to let down.
Whether that's a trainer by your side in the gym, a good friend, a sports figure you look up to, or in my case, a whole team of amazing people skating beside you, that encouragement can be the extra boost to meet that fitness goal. You can see the fire in my eyes here that comes from skating alongside my teammates. (I swear it's fire and not just red-eye from my cheap camera.) I am not pushing myself to be my best for me--I am pushing myself to be my best for US.

I think what inspires me the most about getting into shape or staying in shape is first, my family and second the way I feel.
1. I want to be strong and healthy to take care of my family (hubby, daughter and soon to be born son). I want to be here to watch my kids grow up, and to get involved with what they like instead of sitting on the sidelines because I am sick or sluggish.
2. I want to feel good. You know, have energy, not get sick very often, enjoy life.
I must admit; during pregnancy I am always worried about my post pregnancy body!
My coworkers have been my best encouragement to work out. They have a passion for sports and being healthy and it is contagious. Definitely putting people in your life to push you.

Things that help me stay in shape:
1. looking goodf for my husband
2. So I can play/win when I play sports with my kids
3. Remembering all the incredible athletic things I've dome in my past- if I did it once, I can probably do it again.

Most of all my family keeps me motivated and inspires me to keep fit, if nothing else just to keep up with my kids :)

My pets inspire me to be fit. I have to get up and take care of them and exercise them.
What inspires me is my apartment complex. I live in an elderly and disabled community. I see many people with walkers, canes, wheelchairs and many other health problems.
My kids inspire me. I want to be around to see them grow up, and I want to see what they are like as adults. Maybe grandkids one day, but that is not for a while!
cliche, but my babies.

My Kids....I need to be able to keep up with them and be around for them as they grow!
My sister. She is a dynamo. And she's only 2 years younger than me. While I feel like a slug, she's dancing the night away. She wants to travel, and you gotta be in shape to travel! So I have to say that she is my inspiration, otherwise I'm afraid I'd just give up...
There are a few people who inspire me to get fit, two in good ways and one in not such a great way.
1) My mother - she let her health go as she got older, she gained a lot of weight, ended up with diabetes and just didn't take care of herself. She died last year of a heart attack and it was a real wake up call that if I didn't get my own act together I could end up like that.
2) My co-worker/friend, Jill, who has lost 100lbs in the past year and a half. She's been a great motivator and friend to me as I started my own journey.
3) Jillian Michaels. I love and adore her. i've developed the what would Jillian do or say to me motto in my head when it comes to eating badly or not wanting to work out. It helps (most of the time)
My best friend is a die hard fitness buff. She'll get and and walk in a blizzard. She's fit and healthy and I always strive to be more like her.
My mother inspires me to stay fit. We exercise together many times a month.

My friends completely inspire me to stay fit! We're constantly playing frisbee, joining intermural teams, going to fabulous dance your booty off work out sessions at the aTm Rec center, or training for 5K's to run together. There's a ton of accountablity within the group, but all the love is what really gets us going :)
