Pour Some (Natural) Sugar on Me

Summer is a great time to lighten up. From switching T's to tanks and simplifying daily schedules, I'm all about toning it down and cooling it down. The cooling down part is the best: frozen drinks, ice cream, popsicles (Saw's favorite), limeades. Okay, so I'm a little food-obsessed.
While I do love a ton of sugary things, one of the best and sweetest treats for summer is totally stripped down: fruits. Being a bargain hunter, this means that I can get great pirces on things like blackberries, blueberries, pineapples, raspberries, strawberries--YUM! Fresh veggies are great too, but in the heat, cool fruit is super refreshing. It's also wonderful to know that I'm not consuming extraneous "stuff." Saw loves it too, and I'm always happy to have my kid eating real fruit v. fruit snacks.
As far as drinks go, I'm a little diet-soda addicted, mostly because I like something cool and sweet-tasting without getting all my calories from a drink. If we're talking about stripping it down, drinking something light and low-calorie but made with actual growing things trumps chemically-created confections. Crystal Light Pure Fitness gets its low-calorie sweetness from an all-natural sweetener.

i basically like anything sweet and cold, ice cream, snow cones, things like that, although i am sure i was supposed to say frozen grapes, ice water and non-fat yogurt :)
What I love is seedless watermelon! Oh so yummy and my two year old might turn into a watermelon if I keep letting him eat as much as he wants! So refreshing! :)
I love any type of smoothie in the summer. Skip a meal and just drink in some thick, cool, fruity goodness!
My family really likes snow cones, but I must admit that we still basically dring WATER. I do like the occasional lemon-aid, and we have consumed 3 watermelons this summer already.
I live in Seattle, where blackberries sprout just about everywhere there's dirt. I make jam and freeze them and, of course, eat them fresh every day. One of my favorite treats, though, is to freeze some berries and put them in a blender with a little sugar and some 2% milk. It thickens up like a milkshake and is more delicious than any ice cream -- because I usually use fat-free milk, the 2% tastes impossibly rich.
I can do this in the winter, too, but on a warm summer day this "milkshake" will do for my lunch. It's a refreshing indulgence.

We eat lots of fruit! Especially in smoothies!

Watermelon for sure is one of our favorite summer sweet treats, but we also love to get these really delicious authentic italian ices that are sold at our local pizzaria - once in a while for a special treat!
I love fruits. I cut them in small pieces and freeze them then I eat them to stay cool.

The all-natural fruit smoothies from a local favorite coffee shop are a must during the hot summer months. They make writing easier :)
My favorite summer treat is frozen fruit like grapes, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, and rasberries! I eat them like candy and occasionally put frozen berries in fruity drinks instead of ice cubes. Very fun, and very elegant looking!
